A collection of photographs of laundry taken in Jingdezhen, China, in July and August of 2024. 

The temperature was often above 40°C, and everywhere you looked, laundry was drying outside. It hung from the balconies of private homes, in front of businesses, on trees, in bushes, from lampposts, and on drying rack after drying rack in the street.

There is a kind of intimacy in seeing these arrangements out in public. Each display, although purely practical, seems to sketch out something of the person behind it. You can get a sense of someone from the way they hang their laundry.
